Williamsburg

Williamsburg, home to Colonial Williamsburg's restored 18th-century capital, carries its colonial history right into its drinking scene - Chowning's Tavern, a real working tavern inside the historic district, is one of BarFinder's 58 listed venues here, alongside a strong modern brewery presence. Beyond the colonial core, spots like Windchaser Meadery and Restoration Bar round out a scene that's grown well past historical taverns, with breweries now the city's second-largest venue category after classic bars. It's a rare mix of 18th-century tavern culture and a modern craft scene in one small city.
